Cakes go to kids in the DAP (Dispositional Alternatives Program) which is a part of the Family and Childrens Services of Ithaca. We've always had about a dozen bakers baking from between 28 and 43 cakes a year. We're into our 5th year! We started in 2005 after I saw a plea in the wish list section in the Ithaca Times in December 2004 for birthday cakes for the kids in the DAP program. I contacted them, thinking I could do it, but then they said up to 40 cakes a year. That's when I asked friends that bake to join in and then some of them contacted their friends and that's how it grew.

Right now we have 13 people that bake.
