Cailín O’Connor, BFA, MA, artist and licensed art teacher (2002). Areas of art expertise are in fibers and ceramics - in terms of sculpture, painting, and wearable art.

 

Currently living in India, Cailín lives globally teaching art in international schools. Her thesis (2006) was written on Spirituality in Art as examined through the work of contemporary artists such as Shirin Neshat, Wolfgang Laib, Chris Ofili, Andres Serrano and others. It includes a high school art curriculum developed around the theme of the Hero's Journey - a monomythic narrative process found throughout the world - as a tool for growth, learning, and personal development.

 

Research topics in art education include visual culture, community-based art education, and multicultural education through the lens of:

> multiple historical perspectives,

> cultural consciousness,

> intercultural competency,

> global dynamics, and

> building social action skills.
