About me:

I am still a dreamer with his feet on the earth. When I was a kid I wanted it all -- sometimes a cowboy - an Indian - a wild animal trainer - a dancer - a photographer - a sports car driver - a circus clown (even the human cannon ball) - deep sea diver - a robin hood - world traveler - and most of the time a pirate with a fast ship robbing the rich merchants and giving to

the poor .. all long before Johnny Depp sailed in.

I live surrounded by four sacred mountains: Eagle Beak Mountains to the North, Triangle Mountain to the West, Turtle Mountain to the south, and spotted Mountain to the East. Over these ranges rise blazing sunrises leaping from pale milky white predawn skies. Here all the children gather. The rattlesnake, lizard, rabbit, grouse, mouse, road-runner, and coyote all let me know that I live on their land. Hawks soar, swoop down and return to the bright blue sky. There are many herbs on this land and more in the mountains. Here I do my healing practice, paint, and share my life with Hanne.

Bored, and playing with the computer, I must have googled "shaman sailor" or something and discovered hialoakapua. I'd never even experienced flickr before, but I bookmarked his page. Before a trip, I try to talk to those who have traveled the route before me. That was how I felt, viewing Ross' work. Soon, I felt I had to comment, so I joined flickr. He continues to break trail for me, and his adventures, his point of view, his teachings always speak to me. There are so many creative, wonderful artists on Flickr, but hialoakapua's page is so unique--it's like a trip to that guy at the boat yard who sets your compass to the correct magnetic deviation.

“I am an artist on a walkabout – an adventure in the landscape of my imagination”, Ross (also known as Hialoakapua) says in one of his poems. He is still on a walkabout in his life and art and his creativity is a wellspring – a master jeweler, a poet, photographer and painter. His shamanic healing practice has brought him on walkabouts to indigenous medicine people and sacred sites all over the world. The landscape of his imagination is full of many colored adventures. You will find their origin on the spiritual path at that special point where art and healing have a meeting place. The results are truly magic. I met Ross on the destiny path and I am fortunate to walk with him on paths of the heart through the world.
