The Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council is among America's oldest community organizations - founded in 1939 by Saul Alinski and Joseph Meegan. Our mission is to enhance the general welfare of all residents, businesses, and organizations in the Back of the Yards community. We have economic development programs, senior citizen programs, youth programs, we organize community events and sponsor community gardens, publish a community newspaper - anything we can do to serve the community, we do it!
