My father was a passionate hobby photographer with his own dark room in the cellar.
He gave me my first camera, a Kodak Instamatic 155X. This was - as far as I remember - on the occasion of my First Holy Communion.
Later I won a no-name autofocus camera which was a bit better than the Instamatic.
When this autofocus camera did not meet my expectations any longer, again it was my father who gave me a new camera as an Xmas present: I am not quite sure about the exact name of the model, but I think it was the Canon Prima Zoom, my first ever Canon camera. I kept this camera for quite a while and took decent photos with it.
Shortly before our Malta holidays in 1999 the camera did not work anymore. Having it repaired would have been almost more expensive than buying a new camera. Thus Martin and I bought the Canon EOS500N.
Before our Teneriffa holiday in 2003 we bought a 300mm zoom lens. Although it is an analogue lens it is still in use with the digital cameras.
Digital photography had become interesting for us, too. Thus we started with a Minolta Dimage "something" (can't remember the exact name). We were not satisfied with this camera or rather it results, so after a while we came back to Canon and bought the PowerShot A80 which meanwhile had followed all the other cameras to the camera cemetery...
;-)
Our first digital SLR camera was the Canon EOS350D - this was basically my camera while Martin used the PowerShot A80... When he became more and more unsatisfied with the photos of the PowerShot compared with those of the EOS he gave me the Canon EOS450D in May 2008 while he "inherited" the 350D...
I had always used the camera of my mobile for snapshots and was very satisfied with the results of the Ericsson k800i. If you a have moment have a look at my set with photos of that camphone...
Then I got my first iPhone which is a great mobile but had - again - a poor camera. As I did not want to take the "heavy" DSLR everywhere but still had the requirement of taking good snapshots I got the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS3. This camera is small enough to be carried around in the pocket of your jacket or your handbag.
After I got the iPhone 4 in July 2010 the poor Panasonic is eking out a miserable existence by being ignored for the most part. *g*
This mobile really makes great photos especially so indoors...
We also have some different lenses that we can interchange between the two DSLR cameras which is great... our equipment also contains a camera adaptor for the telescope which helps to make photos of the starry sky and a Manfrotto tripod.
