I live in Plymouth, Minnesota. I dusted off my ancient film camera gear about 14 years ago when the oldest of my 4 children was getting ready to go off to college. I joined my first camera club back then and while avidly striving to improve my skills over the years I have learned a tremendous amount and had a great deal of fun while developing some wonderful friendships. I have held a variety of board positions for almost all of those years. And during that time I have been fortunate to get to know some really gifted and very talented photographers who have always been very helpful and willing to share their insights.
For many years some friends and I have been searching out uniquely challenging action events like rodeo, rugby, polo, cricket, volleyball, rowing, bicycle racing at the velodrome and triathlons, dragon boat races, air shows (including the Blue Angels), roller derby, and many, many more.
I particularly enjoy capturing the excitement and celebration at charitable fundraising events. For many years I worked with the City of Minneapolis capturing images which were posted on their web site of their award winning National Night Out events.
More recently, this is my fourth year as a photographer for The MS Society of Minnesota during their biggest fundraising events. It is a thrilling feeling to help such a great cause. Last year large posters of some of my images from their first “Mud Run” event were featured in transit stations around the cities.
Another of my images was also featured in the advertising and communications for last year’s “MS Walk” event and even appeared on full size billboards around the Twin Cities.
