Undergraduate students at the University of Vermont transformed their vision of uniting the local boating community into an innovative business venture spanning across the Green Mountain State. Initially formed as a partnership, Burlington Boatyard established an efficient and affordable way for members of the Champlain Valley to search or advertise boats online. Burlington Boatyard sparked interest beyond the Champlain Valley by sponsoring events on and off the water, and before long the partnership acknowledged the need to expand with its growing success.

Burlington Boatyard, LLC emerged in 2008 with new team members aboard dedicated to providing superior quality and service. BBY's new structure streamlines the process of buying and selling boats and parts, and focuses on cultivating Vermont's marine and small business communities. New features like B2B on BBY offer website management and advertising for local merchants, while the BBY Blog, Newsletter, and Forum encourage community involvement and interaction. One thing, however, will never change-Burlington Boatyard maintains a level of service and affordability unsurpassed by any other small business of its kind, locally or nationally.
