I became a grandfather in my late 30's and as such have a great investment in seeing my genetic successors accomplish fine things.
I can appreciate fine photography of all genres, however my preferred subjects are people, portraits, action shots and a fine dose of photo manipulation.
I find younger people care less about what they look like and are more willing to just get on and do whatever it is they like doing, sometimes even hiding from the camera.
I prefer natural shots over staged ones and will often spend a long time shooting various angles at different settings in order to perfect the shot.
my favorite models are my grandchildren, whom I often put pictures into famous movie stills then get them printed as posters for them to put on their bedroom walls.
My professional background since leaving school has been working with people and as such I like to create images that draw out different aspects of the individual's personality.
I believe if I can capture the essence of the moment on film then the human condition in us all can recreate that tiny fractal in time forever more.
In the truest sense, real imortality.
with regard to commenting and favorite pics here on flickr, by checking out my favorites you will see only a few there. if i fave a picture then it's because i genuinely do favour it. if i comment it is because i am inspired. I rarely comment on or favour artwork that has thousands of hits unless it is truely special.
i don't want to do as some others do and comment or fave just for popularity votes and getting people to be nice back in return. if i say i like your work then you can guarantee it's a genuine comment. if i have not favoured or commented on your work so far, it dosn't mean i don't like it, it may mean i haven't had time to view your whole photostream yet.
