I've always enjoyed snapping photos. Mostly of family and our dogs. This year-I decided to get into bird watching. Just in our small garden-taking photos with my old Panasonic point and shoot. This camera died-and a friend gave me her Nikon D3100, as she had moved up to bigger and better things. I only have the one lense ( THE 18-55MM it came with) so am a bit limited in what I can catch, (birds need to practically land on me!) but I am learning and practicing every day.

Update...finally got a 70-300 lens, in the after xmas sales! I am still learning, and am constantly in awe of the photos I see here on Flickr! I only hope I can get half as good as these! Most of my photos are taken simply hanging over my yard wall (terraced cottage) and snapping whatever happens to show up in our little garden. I hope I don't bore everyone with the same birds all the time!

Many people have congratulated me on getting a macro lens....lol-I don't have one! I just move really slowly and get very close to the insects I photograph. I think most of them are just lucky shots, to be honest. I enjoy the "hunt" though.....am hopeful I can get a macro lens at some point-maybe the after chistmas sales again? :-)
