I travel a fair amount, mostly on business, which is often stunningly boring. A camera in my hand helps a great deal. It distracts me from the fact I am away from home and spending another night in a crappy hotel. No offense the fine folks at Marriott. I don't have a particular style or a favorite subject. At least I don't think I have. I try to capture either a story or the sense of place in my shots. Feel free to share your comments, good or bad.

I have knocked out Oregon and planted my feet on terra firma in North Dakota and Oklahoma this year. Looks like I need to plan a trip to the Delta. Here are the States I’ve visited so far.

I first noticed Scott’s stream during the summer of 2008 and was so intrigued by his subject matter that I had to look closer. Not only does Scott do an excellent job of photographing Detroit, he also writes some fabulous commentary. He travels a great deal and captures many scenes from the places he has been and he’s an inveterate family man, posting lovely photographs of touching personal moments. It’s always a pleasure to take a stroll though his photo stream and every time I see that he has posted something new, I take a moment to savor it. Scott has taught me a great deal about the history of Detroit and it’s surrounding areas, all the while providing thoughtful and heart wrenching photographs to accompany his words. Cherie

Hey Scott, can I take the liberty of calling you the King of the Motor City? Wow. Your photos are real art. You make the city look incredible even though most people wouldn't look twice in the real world, your photos never cease to amuse. What a world you share with us. Keep up the good work. You make the city look incredible even though most people wouldn't look twice in the real world, your photos never cease to amuse. What a world you share with us. Keep up the good work. Someone needs to document it! Especially those places way off the beaten track that we'd never see without you. Thanks! your Flickr friend, Leanne

Scott speaks with an articulate and caring eloquence through his lens and with his pen. We are fortunate that he is taking us along on his travels through the city.

Who's doing a better job of finding the beauty and irony in the concrete jumble (pun intended) that is Detroit than Buckshot Jones? Maybe someone is but I haven't seen them yet. Who's doing a better job of finding the beauty and irony in the concrete jumble (pun intended) that is Detroit than Buckshot Jones? Maybe someone is but I haven't seen them yet. It takes a special talent to see through the blight and decay of scene and turn it into art the way he does on a regular basis. It's something that I'm still learning to do but this man has it down cold. In addition to that, he is responsible for the best capture of the Joe Louis Memorial I've seen to date. Check it out here: www.flickr.com/ph... It just just hits you in the face. POW! Great stuff! -ep

Having visited Detroit and having relatives who worked there, I can attest to it being the northernmost Southern city. Scott's photos of abandonment are right up my alley. He captures the much abandoned Detroit with a style I only wish I had. Keep up the good work my friend.

The Buckshot is a great photographer with an eye for beauty and an appreciation of what is important and meaningful in life. He has been just about everywhere as you can see in his collection and thereby inspires me to venture farther away to new places for more opportunities. Can't wait to see more so keep them coming… Read more
