Welcome to my bio! Nice to meet you. My name is Elizabeth, and I recently started Bubbleberries on Etsy. I'm still learning the ropes on Flickr. I am currently a rising junior at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. I am a Political Science Major, and have always loved all types of art, particularly the performance arts (acting, singing, ballet, etc.)

For my store I make a wide range of creations with fairly everyday craft materials such as duct tape and yarn, and I'm always looking for new ideas. I love whimsicality, and experimenting with how people view the abnormal. You may notice that I sell tails in my store-- you'd be amazed at how few people will ask why you have a tail when you're wearing it around just for fun!

THE STORY BEHIND THE TAILS:
I first started knitting tails after seeing a tail that a friend of mine had made. It was simple and brown, and perfect for almost any animal costume. I asked her how to make it, and she laughed and said that she had no pattern-- it was easy! Just knit it and stuff it!
My friend and I used to joke that we would grow old together, buy houses next door to each other, and sit on the front porch knitting tails and watching our grandchildren run around with them. It was a very fun fantasy, but I certainly never expected our one-time project to go anywhere. Then one day, I felt the need to knit tails for all of my friends in college.
I soon developed my own method of tail-making, knitting 20-40 stitches across for as many rows as seemed appropriate, alternating between knitting and purling for some tails, and rolling up what I had knitted so that it stuffed itself. I find that the weight and flexibility of the yarn cause the tail to swing in a truly delightful and realistic way, which is less possible when using stuffing.
I have made bunny, devil, horse, cat, monkey, bear, chipmunk, and lion tails, among others. My two newest (and among the most fun) tails are a dragon tail and an Eeyore tail! I have made matching mother and child tails, and tails of 5 different basic sizes (XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL) to fit anyone who wants them. I love to make custom items, so send me a message if there's a tail you want and don't see!
Thanks for visiting!
