B'tique is a cooperative endeavour between three creatively-minded people. We like to make things, unique things, one-of-a-kind things.

We're also completely committed to minimizing our negative impact on the earth. That's a puzzle, since the earth is already much too full of things that people have made!

Our solution is B'tique: unique items, handcrafted from reclaimed materials. We use things that people have already made, and re-make them in new and fabulous ways!

Like, for example, the overalls bags. That was Connie's brilliant idea. We had already had the idea of using old blue jeans to make handbags (like, duh!). And, she was thinking of new and exciting ways to make the Dressy Dish Towels. Sarz said "can we make Dressy Dish Towels using baby overalls for the top part?" Turns out that no, we can't. But while playing with those baby overalls, Connie found a way to make the cutest handbags ever! And, because baby overalls tend to have lots of snaps in them, those snaps get used up as bag closures!

Then there's the bibs and booties. Sarz had scavenged a big lot of gorgeous vintage linens, hoping to use them in the Dressy Dish Towels. Turns out, though, that the loveliest, hand-embroidered linens are exquisite made into baby booties!

So... we try things, and if they don't work we try other things. The only rule is that, wherever possible, we use materials that are not purchased new.

Because our fabrics are reclaimed, and many are vintage, they don't look like new. We won't use anything that's actually dirty, of course, but a rust stain that won't come out when we wash the dresser scarf is no reason not to use the lovely embroidered fabric. These slight imperfections are proof of the vintage authenticity, and actually enhance the value!

We hope you enjoy the things we make!
