I've had a long time interest in photography and took 3 years of classes while in high school. Unfortunately, you wouldn't know it by my pictures. The classes were a lot of fun but didn't teach much in the way of what makes great photography. So many years later, I'm trying to take what I know about design and apply it to my pictures. I find the most difficult thing for me is not only seeing the picture before I take it, but also having a point of interest rather than just bland scenes. Trying to really capture the mood and feel of a scene. Hopefully, with some more practice, things will start coming together.
