FYI .. I've decided that given my age the likelihood of becoming famous and all my pics as being collector pieces as low I'll be dropping my Flickr account to the free one. This means only 1000 max pics. As a results I've already deleted my albums and most of the 11,071 i used to have here, before doing this though I transfered them to Google photos for posterity using the free app Multcloud
I sold my Nikon Kit and got the Sony A6600 and the new Sigma 100-400 DN. This lens is better than the DSLR version I had before :). The camera and it's AF system, I think is better than the D500s.
ISO performance is as good if not a little better than the D500
I think the Metering on the Sony is way better too as the D500 tends to overexpose.
Then theres the weight difference. The Nikon kit was over 7lbs while the Sony is about 1/2 that.
I give up 100mm on the long end but this Sigma does better at longer shots than the 200-500 and I also have 4 extra Mega pixels to help with cropping.
The D500 being 4 yrs. old still does really well but it doesn't look like NIkon's planning any updates for it and I'm getting older so the weight reduction is very nice.
The only issue with this particular Sony is the ergonomics but I got an inexpensive SmallRig Cage to help there.
So now I'm all set .. go away rain!
