Dort, wo sich das Pustertal zu einem breiten Talbecken weitet, befindet sich die bekannte Stadt Bruneck. Im Norden der Alpenhauptkamm, im Süden das Weltnaturerbe Dolomiten, und mittendrin das pulsierende Leben in den geschichtsträchtigen Straßen des Pustertaler Hauptorts. Oberhalb der Stadt thront, weithin sichtbar, Schloss Bruneck, das ab 2011 das neue „Messner Mountain Museum RIPA“ beherbergt.

Lì dove la Val Pusteria si allarga in un’ ampia conca, sorge la città di Brunico, circondata da imponenti catene di monti: a nord dalle Alpi Aurine e Pusteresi e a sud dalle Dolomiti (patrimonio universale dell’ umanità dall’ UNESCO). Le vie del centro storico di Brunico sono piene di vita. A dominare il centro storico é il castello vescovile, visibile già da lontano, che dal 2011 ospiterà il nuovo “Messner Mountain Museum RIPA”.

The well-known town of Bruneck is situated at the point where the Puster Valley opens out into a wide basin. To the north is the main Alpine ridge, to the south is the world natural heritage site of the Dolomites and in the middle the pulsating life in the historic streets of the Puster Valley’s main town.Overlooking the town and visible from afar is Bruneck Castle, which now houses the new “Messner Mountain Museum RIPA”.
