I'm a refugee from film. I spent decades working with manual Nikon F, FTN and FE2 SLRs and a Rollei 6X6 medium format beast, doing my own wet-processing.

Despite always having worked with great equipment and having had terrific photographic satisfaction in the past, I had let my photography drift for a very long time, until the change to digital, which has had a revitalising influence on my photography.

However despite the simplicity and convenience of digital, I still think as if I'm working with film and I still occasionally do work with film - although nowadays only for B&W.

I'm pretty basic with software. I use the computer darkroom like a film darkroom - generally nothing more than contrast, dodging/burning, cropping and retouching.

In my spare time I'm a semi-retired management consultant and commercial litigation lawyer in Sydney, Australia.

What an inspiration he is!! Then there's his great humor; be it one of his random shots or his funny Aussie comments on some of my pics, there's always a smile on my face when I hear from him! Wow, I've gained a great friend on the other side of this wonderful world! And...............like father like daughter, both of their photographic talents are fantastic!! Keep 'em coming, Bruce!! Thanks for sharing your artistic works and thanks for your friendship!!! Kathy

From the very first time that I saw one of Bruce's photographs, and it was his memorable storm cloud over Sydney Harbour, I was captivated by what he could do with a camera. I was soon drawn into looking at his other pictures and I felt a combination of awe and the feeling that here was a photographer who was simply exceptional at what he did and how he executed his art. His technical prowess is matched by his equally skilled sense of composition and timing. He is obviously in love with what he does and the camera rewards him in return. What could be mundane or ordinary by most other photographers is transformed into something magical by Bruce. I'm proud to call myself a friend of Bruce, although we are continents apart and have never met yet, and value his exchanges of gossip and sharp humour across the flickr waves! Long may you continue Mate!
