My name is Paul Brouns. I am an artist and graphic designer, living near Amsterdam in Holland. Rhythm, color and geometry are recurring themes in my photographic work and architecture has proven to be an ideal subject for this. I am attracted by abstract, rhythmic expression of buildings and that aspect I try to visualise as purely as possible. No matter how the work is made (direct photography or advanced image editing), what counts is the creation of a feast of dancing shadows, sunlit reflections or colour combinations that enchants and inspires the viewer.

In spite of the level of abstraction, in detail there is also room for everyday life. Apart from the presence of the buildings themselves, one can see objects behind a window, reflections in the water, or there may be a person passing by.

As an artist it is my goal that this combination of recognition and alienation, entangled in an abstract rhythmic dance will give my audience not only an intense visual experience, but also open its eyes to the beauty that surrounds us.
