I'm now retired after forty or so years teaching in a variety of secondary schools, the subjects mainly Mathematics and Information Technology.

Interested in music, particularly church music, from an early age, I'm organist at a village church, direct a country choir, and sing with three other choirs, two of which are voluntary choirs singing regularly in the Cathedral. Perhaps this explains my enthusiasm for photographing churches.

I have a life-long interest in railways - all sorts, not just steam kettles - and this includes railway modellng, an aspect which I'm keen to develop photographically.

Born and brought up in south Cumbria, I need to return to the Lake District for frequent spells of r & r. I no longer walk the tops, but still enjoy capturing images from a somewhat lower level.

My camera is a Canon EOS 450D. At the moment I only have the 18-55 mm lens purchased with it. I've some rather expensive lenses from slide film days sitting there accusingly, but I guess one day I'll splash out - macro and a decent tele lens are first priority.
