I have not written a testimonial in some time, and I only do so when someone really strikes me as an artist rather than a person who just snaps pictures at whatever strikes them. Aart has his eye under control and I find the geometry of his shots very appealing and fresh. He seems able to take in a scene, see some structure in it that might escape the ordinary photographer, and capture that in a perfect (usually) composition. Of course not every shot is a masterpiece. That's asking the impossible of anyone. But here in Aart's gallery you will amply rewarded by spending your time looking at his vision. His imagination transforms everyday building and objects into faces, scenes of isolation, hypnotizing repetition of patterns. The faces of the people he shoots are all alive. This man knows his stuff!
