John Seven a.k.a. Jean Sept and Henri More.

Born London, England sometime in the previous millenium, I spent my first century thinking about what I had to say - then someone stole my toys and puberty arrived like an army of juggernauts. I am a virtual artist, retro-pop, neo-dadaist and spiegelhalter.

"The profoundest instinct in man is to war against the truth; that is, against the Real. He shuns facts from his infancy. His life is a perpetual evasion. Miracle, chimera and to-morrow keep him alive. He lives on fiction and myth. It is the Lie that makes him free. Animals alone are given the privilege of lifting the veil of Isis; men dare not. The animal, awake, has no fictional escape from the Real because he has no imagination. Man, awake, is compelled to seek a perpetual escape into Hope, Belief, Fable, Art, God, Socialism, Immortality, Alcohol, Love. From Medusa-Truth he makes an appeal to Maya-Lie."

—Jack London, The Mutiny of the Elsinore

"Many native traditions held clowns and tricksters as essential to any contact with the sacred. People could not pray until they had laughed, because laughter opens and frees from rigid preconception. Humans had to have tricksters within the most sacred ceremonies for fear that they forget the sacred comes through upset, reversal, surprise. The trickster in most native traditions is essential to creation, to birth".

I live by rules and standards most people would never understand. I need daily inspiration to keep going in life, seeing things in a different way. John Seven makes art that sings to me in so many different ways, more ways than I thought were even possible. He is the one and only, master of his trade most likely a genius from royalty in the least. I feel lucky and always special to be able to consider him a friend and always an inspiration. If you don't see him the way I do then you are emotionally dead, classless and creatively bankrupt.

An inspiration to us all. Life is too short to accept it without a bit of enhancement and smiles. Kudos!

I'm kind of worried I could be the person that pays that one-too-many -compliment and tips him over into vapid self absorption, but it is good stuff.

This ultimate pop-culture d.j. has the best remixes, and I love the artist's take on things like sexuality and politics; the art seems to hold forth with opinions and interpretations delightfully and unconventionally inhuman--maybe they're more quantum mechanical. If you're only seeing symmetry, you're not even in the front door.

i remember the first time i saw his art...it was love at first sight. I was held captive by merciless nazis, who beat me hourly to a bloody pulp, I was chained to an old fire escape, from there I could see across the alley a man taking photographs of little animated people and monsters and such every day for hours on end. As I struggled to make out what he was doing, His creations would spring to life from his raw unbridled imagination and flow onto the glowing stage he had set. Every day new artworks would be produced from these magical toys and imaginary actors, making my torture almost livable. Day after day I would wait to see these new works, and my hopes would lift. Thank you for making life livable Mister Seven, my love and undying respect forever till the end of my days and then even after.

Brancusi is not just an artist, is an art movement. I am a big admirer of these images. They deeply touch my subconscious and blow the dust off the mirror of my imaginary.

Johns art is a unique form of therapy...it flips a light switch on in a lobe that is rarely visited...all of a sudden something familiar seems incredibly enlightening.

The vision that is Brancusi7 is hard to pin down. That's because it's floating in a universe of Jell-O, cartoons on top of nightmares. These are toys gone bad, morphing with icons and shady memories. If you've seen one of his pieces five times, look again; there's something else there. Dangerous fun.

i suppose, at first, it was the uncanny resemblance to my first love, alfred. e newman. i had to peek behind the icon to further that mad pleasure surge. once i opened the gate, there was no return. brancusi7 at once ushered me into his palace of the absurd, the funny, the poignant, the brilliant and the iconoclastic. each room, each cranny holds another deliciously irreverent combobulation of pop, satire, reallyfine art, the surreal and the sacred. i feast on a dadaesque fusion of medium and message at every turn. i lavish in the comforts of a delightfully warped and piercing humor. when it’s time to leave, i’m grateful to the kind brancusi7 for not booting me and my inane commentary out the door. it’s always playtime at brancusi7’s. welcome.

The deep disturbing darkness surrounding his every flickr entry at the moment is quite disquieting. Though it slowly scratches every nerve ending with a demented delight at each sight…

I have no idea where he gets all of his dolls, but I am so glad he's got them. With a unique perspective he stares into our collective unconcious stiring the ashes of our mind with his art stick.
