Martin-Jan van Santen (1968) was born in a creative family: His father was a vicar in the local church. His two brothers became professional musicians. Martin-Jan discovered his passion for painting in 2007. Since then he's trying to make a living as an artist. He lives in Kampen, Holland.

In his portraits the main goal is to capture the specific characteristics of a person, wich lies hidden in their face or body. Portraits can be done, based on photo's or by a posing model.
