I once read an interview with another photographer and to paraphrase, he said “Photography is how I escape from the world around me. Photography is how I connect more deeply with the world around me.” This paradox sums it up for me as well.

I am a senior lecturer in the Department of Design at San Jose State University and the head of a graphic design studio in the SF Bay area. I collect vintage film cameras, and have "one less than I need" at all times.
