Born in Julesburg (aka "Blink and You'll Miss It"), Colorado, but grew up moving around the world as a "corporate brat". Spent a happy childhood in Mexico, a perplexing puberty in Puerto Rico, and some pretty interesting high school years in Japan and Hong Kong. Returned to the U.S. for college, and alas, am still here. My math teachers would be appalled to know that I'm a business manager and deal with numbers all day (HA! I told them I wouldn't need algebra!!). I'm appalled that I'm not doing anything remotely connected to my degrees.

When I'm not sitting in traffic or working, I console myself with chocolate, films and taking photos. Someday soon, I hope to quit my job, sell my house and move to the remote countryside of Scotland (or England, Iceland, Greenland... I don't care, as long as I'm far, far away from neighbors and noise), where I can hear myself think and just work on my photography and writing. I may have to eat grubs for the rest of my life, but I hope it's at least quiet. Now I just need a residence visa... and to win the lottery. If anyone would like to apply to be my sugar daddy/mommy, please e-mail.

My toys: Panasonic Lumix FZ30, Nikon D70s, Horizon 202 and loads of peculiar little lomo cameras that have been sitting in a box for years and I need to sort through and start using again.

P.S. If you favorite my photos or add me as a contact, yet have no photos of your own, I may block you. No offense, but Flickr is an interactive community, but I've encountered one too many suspicious people that have only favorited children's photos, feet, etc., and I don't want to deal with it any more. Even if you're not a photographer and just want to look at other people's work (which is fine), please write a profile so we know a little about you, and add some constructive comments to photos instead of just lurking. It would be greatly appreciated, and you'll enjoy the Flickr experience more.

P.P.S. Although I really appreciate your visits and comments on my photos, please don't invite me to any group that requires me to do anything other than admire the members' photos and comment if I'm inspired (which I often am). I don't mean to be rude, but for me, Flickr is a fun place to come to see what's going on around the world, learn and be inspired. I don't want to feel forced to comment or put sparkly awards on anything, because it ends up being "work", and not fun any more. This isn't a contest. My award is your visit to my stream and your honest comments if one of my photographs moved you in some way (whether it left you breathless, bored you to tears or pissed you off).

She ordered a tin of Sun Brands Madras Curry Powder through Amazon. It wasn't that eating grubs every day was bad, per se. She just wanted a little more spice in her life.

Joan's photos never cease to amaze me... color, shape, point of view, all utterly original. (Though for some strange reason I'm always hungry after I look at her stream...)
