for three years i was an Ironman triathlete living here in Boulder, Colorado. i shared my experience in a popular online blog called Bolder in Boulder, that documented my passion

everyday, i would end my posts with my signature greeting 'bold out'. along the way, my friends and teammates started calling me 'bold'. as far as nicknames go, it's one i can live with...

it was a popular blog, about 500 triathletes and non-triathletes followed my journey each day, and it got me a full sponsorship on a triathlon team

that same passion for triathlon that allowed me to become a three-time Ironman by swimming 2.4 miles, riding 112 miles, and then running a 26.2 mile marathon in one day has now shifted, and has borne bold.photography

i've got a pretty good gig as a day job, as an exec-type for a large technology company specializing in business strategy that pays the bills.

so, with that gig, photography can be my passion, and i can share that passion with others without charge. feel free to use my images (give me some credit somewhere dude!), or approach me to help you with your portfolio/port/book, press kit, TF*, pro bono volunteer-type gig, or skills. i value collaboration.

i leverage Canon lenses, digital and full-frame sensors, pocket wizards and CLS, Adobe Photoshop CS4, Adobe Illustrator and a MacBook Pro platform.

my shooting interests include landscapes/cityscapes, sports and outdoor action, with an interest in high-end portraiture, glamor and fashion.

i've had some formal training at Naropa University, where i discovered the contemporary artist, and inspiration of Bill Brandt -- i've included his work in my flickr account, i hope he inspires you too!

like Bill Brandt, my objective in portraiture photography is to capture 'the essence' of a person in one singular portrait.

someday, after i retire, i hope to make a living from photography, but for now, it's a passion... let's look forward to mutual opportunity, because as Virgil said 'fortune favors the bold'

bold out!
