ALECSEY BOLDESKUL ARTIST'S STATEMENT

My sentient relationship with photography goes far beyond having love or passion for it. Photography is my life, and all my experiences in life are directly or indirectly related to it. I am a photography expeditionary set out on a journey through life to discover, learn, experiment and create expressive work.

After becoming acquainted with writings by Clive Bell, Roger Fry and Clement Greenberg, as well as with works of Abstract Expressionist painters of The New York School my photography began to shift away from objective representational subject matter into realm of abstract, becoming self-referential with its own internal narrative and order. My main concern is with exploration of rich aesthetic language of visual arts as applied to photography to create subjective work that visualizes the author’s emotional responses and evokes positive emotional experience for the audience.

I was born and raised in Kiev, Ukraine and currently reside in New York City.
