Up for an adventure!
I've been interested in flight all my life. We had a large picture frame window in the living room where I would sit and watch robins and bluejays demonstrate their aerobatic prowess maneuvering through the maple trees. It fascinated me to no end.
Scouting adventures led me to notice the red-tailed hawks thermalling and soaring high above the lakes of Missouri. I took on the name "Gentle Circling Hawk" as a scout in the tribe of Mic-O-Say as flight captured my attention.
I was introduced to the sport of paragliding in 1995 by a good friend while traveling through the western states on a 60 day walkabout. It immediately took hold and I needed to devote my life to studying this amazing sport. I moved to Salt Lake City from Kansas City and began my transformation. No feathers yet, but paragliding is just part of who I am.
On occasion I get to share the air with some magnificent feathered friends. I've thermalled with red-tailed hawks, urubus in Brazil, monarch butterflies in Mexico, vultures in Spain, and even a California Condor in Cuyama Valley, California.
In 2004 I started my Paragliding business and named it "Circling Hawk Paragliding". Currently I'm more focused on my graphic design career, but I still occasionally teach dreamers to fly and soar like birds. Tandems are another way to experience the gift of flight.
In 2007 I purchased some descent camera and lens equipment, and getting a chance to see the birds in greater detail really captured me. Combining my love of flight with my love of photography has been a really rewarding experience.
