I'm the only grandson of Lee Blodget who was a professional landscape photographer starting back in the 1940's. Grandpa was one of the original students of Ansel Adams. He was selected to join Ansel's first class at the San Francisco School of Fine Arts after the war. He used to run Ansel's studio in Yosemite Valley while Ansel was away shooting. I grew up hanging around grandpa's Studio 33 on 2nd and Howard Streets in San Francisco. I would run down to Kodak for chemicals and paper for him while he diligently worked in the studio. In my early years grandpa would teach me to use my old Brownie and I would sit for hours with him on location "waiting on the light", as he would say. I fell out of the habit of taking photos in my twenties after he died, but picked it up again when I moved to Kauai. The bug bit me hard and now I am never without a camera. My house is filled with grandpa's work and it inspires and humbles me to keep moving forward developing my talents. More than anything I love having a record of my travels and experiences.
