Most people know me as Bob Merco but my real name is Robert Mercogliano.I am a Denver based filmmaker/photographer specializing in documentary films, music videos and still photography. My photography ranges from the simple to the surreal. I recently became interested in HDR photography as you can see from my photostream. Most of my subject matter is searching out abandoned roadside Colorado and it's nearby states.
My full-time job was working with the developmentally challenged population in Adams County, Colorado. This was a very rewarding occupation. In January 2010 I retired.
After retiring in January 2010 I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma and underwent 6 months of chemotherapy and was declared cancer in remission in September 2010. In September of 2011 I found out the cancer has returned and will start chemo again then possibly a stem cell transplant. FUCK THIS SHIT
In January 2012 I underwent a stem cell transplant and in March 2013 the cancer is in remission. So far so good.!
I manipulate, alter, shoot through the viewfinder, use several toy and Polaroid cameras as well as Canon digital cameras, work with photoshop, topaz, lightroom and a host of HDR programs and rarely is an image straight from the camera.

Not only has Bob got the technical ability which many of us have, he has an "eye" and the ability to combine the two which few of us have. When I see the latest postings from my contacts and there is an image from Bob I know I'm in for something special. Love your work mate.

Where to start...Bob's shots are unbelievable. In a time where I believe people are overprocessing their work, I feel that Bob has the perfect balance of processing and art. I am so appreciative of his "challenged portraits" and the skill and taste in which they were presented. I always look forward to Bob's newest … Read more

Read lessBob has that eye for things, and keeps perfecting his techniques with each upload. Each photo I see him upload...well just I have to go and see more of it. He's one of my contacts in flickr who inspires me to do more. I'd like to meet him in person some time. He seems like he'd be a great friend.
