The pictures in this flickr photostream were unitl 12/13 taken with a Ricoh GX200 (or its precursor the GX100 which I bought when I realised how much I enjoyed messing about with the camera on my Treo phone). I loved the feel and control of the pocketable Ricoh (except for its high noise at anything over 200iso and its serviceable zoom motor that nonetheless felt a bit flaky and its digital level which couldn't be trusted!) the main reason I picked it was because it had an evf.
I used a Fuji XE2 (until it got stolen while asleep on a train) because I got fed up waiting for Ricoh to revamp the GX200. Stating the obvious the controls were really well thought through, the XF lenses are great. and the autofocus is good. It also worked well in extreme cold- I had it out and about at -29c for long periods and had it splashed with salt spray and rained on repeatedly.. I really appreciated the way Fuji kept it up to date. ... So now I am getting used to an XT2 and most recently an XE4 which is great fun. And now finally replace my much love XT2 with and XT5
I made time based art installations in the 90s for Artangel, Smiths Gallery, Collective Gallery and ISEA etc and after a ong gapo ave a new art project in development).
I am more interesting in finding framing in camera and sticking to an aspect ratio rather than cropping afterwards ( I work in the movie business so this feels intuitively right) I I like the way the camera imposes parameters. (well OK i do smetimes crop to film ratios 1:1.85 and experimenting with Cinemascope 1:2.35) I like minimal post processing. I use Capture One for this but highly recommend XnView which i use for managing pics.
Sadly no more Blackberry and I hate my Samsung Andrpoid phone camera which is just very annoying in always trying to "help" but it is always to hand, you find yourself taking a different kind of picture, generally flatter compositions so just occasionally I use it.
