I am a screenwriter/director living in Los Angeles.
For me, photography is all about moments... those quickly passing moments, looking for them and recording them for others to see. It's about the story. The drama. The millions of stories all around us at any given moment. They are fleeting... passing before us in the blink of an eye... and If we are lucky with the press of a button we capture them.
I love walking the streets of the city and taking photos of all the interesting people I come across. Some just pass my lens for a moment and then they're gone - others I get the chance to spend time with, listening to their stories. Somehow spending those moments with them and listening to them gives their photos even more life. There are so many incredible photographers on this site it can be a little intimidating to post your work, but they have inspired me to share my photos and the stories behind them. I could wax lyrical about Brads technical and creative abilities but you just need to look at his pictures to see how much thought and love he puts into his work. What really grabs me when looking at these photos is the fearlessness to connect with a scene or subject, to really be in the moment and connected to whats unraveling around him. Its a more intimate, sometimes sad and sometimes joyous connection that elevates a street scene from interesting to very thought provoking, a very compelling slice of real life.

Brad Mirman is a jewel of a photographer. Artistically his images are beautiful. The subject matter that he captures and that seems to captivate him sets him apart. It is the human stories he puts before you that make his work so unforgettable. He has a unique ability to put the viewer right in the middle of a moment, right in the thick of things. His pictures are not just "pretty pictures", they tell stories, they evoke emotion, they make you feel what you are seeing. To say he captures the moment does not do him justice. He does way more than that. His photographs are a compelling testament to the wealth of the soul.

I think a lot of people take street photography portraits for granted, not realizing how difficult is to get everything right at a specific moment: good light, varied tones, interesting/fascinating content (subject matter, people, authentic urban settings/backgrounds), good to great composition, and proper camera settings. Brad Mirman does a great job with most of his photos presented to us here on Flickr, with a lot of 'winners' already in about only 50 photos (as of Nov. 2018). Showing people in candid, semi-candid, or posed real-life situations, Brad offers a sympathetic, warm-hearted approach to street people and the rough side of urban life, including members of the underclass that society tends to ignore or treat with contempt. I look forward to Brad's future documentary and artistic efforts.
