I'm a keen amateur wildlife photographer with a life-long love of nature, though the photography part came about quite by accident.
I've always been interested in observing our native fauna &, for the most part, I can usually identify a bird, either by sight or by listening to its call. Plant & insect identification is another matter entirely and they still offer up plenty of ID challenges to this day.
Taking a little compact camera along proved very handy in this regard, as a hastily taken snap could easily be compared to photos on the internet when back at home.
While checking the net for an ID, I discovered Flickr and I was blown away by the sheer variety of the images that I found there. Pretty soon, our simple Dog-walks in the countryside became a lot more focused, as I sought new and interesting things to photograph. A desire to improve the quality of my images also took hold and it wasn't long before I was posting a few shots of my own.
My little pocket 'point & click' camera was very basic, but it out-punched it's weight on the macro setting, so I contented myself with insect photography for a good while, before finally taking the plunge and acquiring a DSLR.
With the DSLR & a long lens, birds & animals were now within reach and it's here where my passion still lies.
Wildlife photography has taken me to some amazing places and I've made some very dear friends along the way. It's also given me a reason to get out and enjoy the beautiful British countryside again, revisiting all those wild and remote places that I loved in my youth.
Thank you to those who have taken the time to view & comment on my images. I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Totally concur with Tim Melling above: Steve is one of that elite of wildlife photographers on flickr who simply cannot be surpassed. Yet he always has a kind word for my humble efforts. My apologies, Steve, that I am not as much a diligent commentator as you.
Steve and I have been following each other for about 10 years and over this time his photographic skills have just got better and better. I love the self-deprecating way he calls himself Blurmeister when every photo is pin sharp. The reason why I have been moved to write a testimonial after all this time is because … Read more
Steve and I have been following each other for about 10 years and over this time his photographic skills have just got better and better. I love the self-deprecating way he calls himself Blurmeister when every photo is pin sharp. The reason why I have been moved to write a testimonial after all this time is because I realised that I value Steve's comments on my photos above anyone else's, They are always detailed and considered, and he has never fallen into the rut of "great photo", which unfortunately I cannot say for myself. We have never met but from our many interactions on Flickr I know we would get on well. My only regret is that I didn't write this testimonial sooner. Keep posting those great photos Steve.
