I am geologist by profession but a keen amateur photographer and my work takes me around the globe. My interest is mainly landscape photography, but a chance to work in Africa introduced me to the delights, and difficulties of wildlife photography. Although I’ve owned cameras from my early twenties it’s only the last 7 to 8 years that I’ve taken a serious interest in photography, spurred on by the leap into digital which has made the creation and development of images so much easier.

Although I’m happy to present what I consider to be shots worthy of a posting, I’m not just here for praise. I'd really appreciate some constructive criticism of my photography. If you think a photograph could have been done better, processed, cropped or presented differently, please say so; I won’t be offended. Flickr is abound with an abundance of over-the-top praises, and don't get me wrong I get as much enjoyment knowing other people like my images as the next person, however, I’m here to learn and take advantage of this huge forum. I’m certainly not here for the social networking, but to exchange ideas with like minded souls and learn from some of the wonderful photographers out there.

One thing I won't do is join groups when you post an image you are obligated to comment on 3 or 4 others. Sorry but I only comment where and when I think it's worthy and if a picture really catches my eye.

I have a new web site and blog where you will find articles on photography, gear reviews, details of some of the locations I’ve been to and a place where I can express some of my opinions. It now contains galleries of some my best and favourite images, many of which are not posted on Flickr.
