I've been taking photographs since I was 10. I received a Kodak Instamatic 50 camera as a birthday present from my uncle Stan. I graduated to using a 35mm courtesy of borrowing my Father's Kowa SE. I bought my first 35mm camera around 1976, a Nikon FM. I used this camera for many years adding an FE a couple of years later. With these I took the first photographs that I had published in amateur photography magazines. In the mid-80's I switched to auto focus Nikons; 801s bodies plus a variety of lenses still in use. I now use a Nikon digital camera. For 13 years I was a member of my local photographic society. For a time I was Chairman & did a variety of other committee jobs. Then I began to tire of photography & there followed a period of about 3 years when I did not taken a serious photograph. Digital photography rekindled my interest. I now want to make new images.
In the past I've had work published in a variety of magazines, newspapers & several books. I was an Associate Member of the Royal Photographic Society & have had work exhibited in the UK. I've also won a number of awards for my photographs.
Despite all of the above I do not believe photography to be a competitive sport. This competitive aspect of photography no longer has any appeal.
My current aim is to make photographs which please me. Thankfully I do not have to make my living from my images.
I am also a published poet. I am attracted to somehow combining words & images.
I love music & chance encounters.
I find inspiration in unexpected places.
Every day is a bonus/adventure.
I welcome feedback about my photographs.
"The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera" Dorothea Lange
"The camera doesn't make a bit of difference. All of them can record what you are seeing. But, you have to SEE."
Ernst Haas
We don't take pictures with our cameras, we take them with our hearts and we take them with our minds, and the camera is nothing more than a tool.

When I photograph, what I'm really doing is seeking answers to things.
