A question for those who follow without engaging—why is that?
If you’re following but haven’t reacted to my photos or don’t share your own, I won’t be following you back.
If your passion lies with AI-generated images, that’s fine, but understand that to me, true photography is about more than typing keywords and letting algorithms take over.
Here’s a brief glimpse into my journey—read it or not, it’s your choice.
One unforgettable Christmas, I received a Kodak Instamatic with a cube flash, and that ignited my lifelong passion for photography. I dreamed of owning a Nikon F or a Pentax Spotmatic, but they were always financially out of reach.
My father gifted me a secondhand Kowa SE with some soft auxiliary lenses that barely satisfied my craving for detail.
In 1972, we traveled to Poland to visit family in Oswiecim (Auschwitz). My uncle handed me what I thought was a Leica IIIg but turned out to be a Zorki 4 with a sharp Jupiter 8 50mm lens.
It was a treasure until I carelessly left it without a lens cap, and the sun damaged the shutter. I patched it up, but eventually traded it in.
Life took me through some photographic wilderness years—raising a family, a divorce, moving countries, and returning to the UK to start a printing business.
Along the way, I had a Minolta 303b, a Dynax, and a disappointing first digital Fuji. A few years later, I upgraded to an 8MP Konica Minolta DiMage that played a lovely chime on startup but had dreadful chromatic aberration.
Before closing my business, I bought a Nikon D90, with money gifted from my mother. That camera kept me grounded during the chaos leading up to our closure. I later upgraded to a D7100 with several Nikkor and Sigma lenses.
Then the gear acquisition syndrome hit. I traded everything for MFT, starting with an Olympus Pen F and various lenses, culminating in an Olympus EM1 Mk II and a stunning collection of primes. In early 2020, I treated myself to an Olympus EM1 Mk III and later, a secondhand Leica Q in silver.
In 2024, I embraced the Fuji XT5 and the Lumix S5ii with a few lenses, driven by the same passion that fueled my early years of photography, free of the debt that once weighed me down.
I explore various genres, but you won’t find LEGO or Barbie doll shots here—I’m no longer 12!
I hope my images resonate with you. If you’re interested in purchasing any, let me know; I promise the funds will go to good use.
And if you see yourself in my photostream and you’d rather not be, just drop me message.
