Just look at the photos.

There are a lot of fine photographers in Flickrville (if you have the time to find them). There are many who came to the game with skills already honed over years of doing it. Then there are those who became inspired by what they found here and set out to learn from the past, incorporate what's present and get ahead of the curve into the future. Blindboy is a prime example of one who has kick-started his work into overdrive. Not only is his photography thought-provoking but the things he has running around in his head are fun to try to follow. He shares his insights and wit and social commentaries. He's a man's man and I have a man-crush on him. Spend some time with the blind and they can pry open your eyes. G'day and g'dluck

I can't explain it, but this guy is why I check in and remain active on Flickr everyday. I suppose it's his combination of great images and colourful commentary. Sometimes I think this is what a Rush Limbaugh fan feels like. I'm always looking forward to my daily fix of John's food, poison, karma... whatever he's serving up that day. He refuels my "attitude" in everything that has to do with expressing one's self. In saying this, I realize there is a risk that he may return my gesture with some profound darkness that embodies me. Nevertheless, forward I go.

Frantic Selection (deleted)

My first Flickr testimonial goes to Blindspot1330. This guy's work is inspiring, unpredictable and a whole assortment of other inadequate adjectives.... He was the first to sustain my attention on Flickr... and I keep coming back for more, I just can't help it. See for yourself.

The one thing that i love about your images is that they have some interesting content, perspective, or outlook on your subject matter. Your work has some "beef" to it that I enjoy, rather than a lot of the "snap-shotty" images prevalent today. Your style is borderline documentary/fine art and i really enjoy that and i… Read more

D says:

I think if I wrote comments on all of John's pictures that I like, those that I like for artistic reasons, I would get permanent, 100% disabling writer's cramps.

john's work is a supreme representation of the wonders and glories of paradox, dichotomy. on the one hand you'll bear witness to down-to-earth depictions and descriptions of both the inaminate and animate world; you'll find yourself faced with a vivid yet amazingly natural pureness and clarity, with both great technical skill and also a sensitive finesse of affect. and he's decidedly ready, willing and able to show us that the personal and the political are one and the same. then there's the other stuff - the obscure, oblique, perplexing images and text - photos that surround you like a mist, fog, smoke; and leave you disoriented, absent-minded, trying to give form to some haunting, nagging thoughts or feelings hiding just behind the liminal doorway of your mind and heart. you might find yourself thinking there was something you should be remembering, but it just won't come when bidden. you'll have to let it go, and simply allow for it to come - or not. he intentionally presents himself veering wildly from gentle, open, even soft, to driven by the furies, chaotic, mad - seeming to grapple and wrassle with allowance and resistance. you will be inspired, delighted, frustrated, and moved further in your own driven explorations with witnessing and sharing what surrounds you, and what abides within. i'm just sayin .....

Boy I suck at these. I've just returned from meeting 'the Spot' and a few of his children. Both are even more entertaining in person than they are onscreen. I can't say much about his work that you can't see for yourself, other than if you don't get it, you may as well stop trying. I envy his abillity to frame; he … Read more

I can't say much about his work that you can't see for yourself, other than if you don't get it, you may as well stop trying. I envy his abillity to frame; he makes it look so easy, cutting through the extraneous crap and shooting straight at the heart of the image. One of these days I'll learn how to do that. As for the man himself, he made me feel very welcome and introduced me to his wife and a few of his friends. (Hi Mrs. Spot, Sarah, Pete, & Mav, nice meeting you!) Thanks for an enjoyable evening and give my regards to the missus.

Where should i start? This Flickr guru John aka "blindspot1330" is THE MASTER of stirring up a heaping hot load of verbal banter (debate) amongst those brave Flickr Followers (ala Jamestown) that dare to swim in the dark, swift and hazardous waters of his Photo Stream. As a result of his off-key and hard-hitting commentary John the "pot stirrer" has ensighted many a riots here on Flickr, and has subsequently caused many people to suddenly awaken from their lackadaisical and numb-ass existence after reading his poignant wit and wisdom. John has an opinion on what really makes the world go round... and he isn't afraid to make you aware of how you should feel. John questions everything and he is (perhaps?) genuinely interested in hearing your feedback (opinion) - even if you are diabolically opposed to his views. Regarding the artist, John has great talent as both a street and real life photographer & a writer and the supporting evidence is here for your viewing & reading pleasure. Watch his shit... it's good son!

Granted there may be a cat or a reflection or fifty in his series, but look at them, they're done well. Very. Im writing this because he gets what i'm trying to say which is validating in itself but also because he is an encouraging sort. Always a wonderful thing. Also, because some stories are true and rooted in the past and he knows these things. Im writing this mostly because he dedicated a photo to me and i want to get a print, jeez. oh right, and his wicked sense of humour works well w myne.

John's photos have a depth and intensity not easily put into words. His dark views on the world are what initially come through, but despite his best efforts to remain bitter, the images draw the viewer in where an astute eye will discover an eerie and compelling beauty not often captured. "An intellectual says a simple thing in a hard way. An artist says a hard thing in a simple way" (Bukowski). John, simply put, is an artist.
