The notion of constructing large, intricate patterns from individual figures echos the world in which we live. Although individuals, we all inevitably inhabit a single space, creating this illustrated web of humanity. whether aware of it or not, the figures contribute to a complex larger structure. This effect is seen in my paintings as the overall pattern emerges.

Individually, personalities emerge beyond the overall structure or the iconic simple character designs. Some figures appear to be struggling, some relaxing, taking advantage, or climbing. Smaller characters often carry the load of an unknowing larger figure, who continues to enjoy relaxing contemplation, while many struggle beneath.
