So, I don't really know what to say here, but I suppose it's time I got something going...
I remember taking pictures as a kid - I had a point and shoot that used 110 film and I still have some pictures I took with that, though the camera is long gone. I started getting into the art of photography when I was a teenager and commandeered my mom's 35mm for a black and white class (one of several). My husband (boyfriend at the time) enjoyed photography also, so it became a shared hobby.
I love looking at a subject and being able to capture it with the camera. I think I get some good shots in there, but I recognize I'm no expert photog. I love how a picture can evoke feeling, pull you into its emotion. You can hear, taste, and smell familiar places or similar surroundings just by getting lost in one.
I don't always know the technical terms; I work full-time and raise a pretty awesome son, both of which take time and energy that might otherwise go to research. That doesn't mean I love the art any less. I don't use Photoshop. I think some people can be very skilled with it (It's very much an art form in its own right), but I also find I feel a sense of disappointment when I find a picture I admire has been altered, the image isn't natural. I do, however, enjoy playing with what I can with the camera itself - freelensing and using the lensbabies. Anything I post is SOOC, no post production on the computer.
When I appreciate a photo, I'm most likely going to add it as a favorite - actions speak louder and all that. I really enjoy looking at everyone's pictures here on Flickr, and am constantly amazed at the creativity that's found throughout the world. You all inspire me to try new things and become a better photographer!
