I am an amateur who was introduced to this community by a dear friend Grantthai , ... who basically challenged my interests in photography... and my purpose in life :-)

I have seen since then outstanding photography by so many that it makes me wonder if I should even try to post.

So I decided to do this for fun.. :-) So my comments may often be out of context and with humor at times.

Let see what happens... and thank you all for the encouragement I have received to date .. Cheers :-)

All my photos are private and should be treated as such, they are under copyright protection and I expect all viewers to respect this.

Should you wish to use selective photos from my stream feel free to contact me and we can always communicate. :-)

Note:

I have realized that I just cannot keep up with reciprocity in comments and all... It hurts me profoundly not to be able to be reactive and spontaneous to the ones who everyday make my day.. so in this profile I publicly and with sincerity apologize to all for my apparent lack in response.

I took the decision not to let the social Flickr govern my time and space.. I love photography and the community but I can only do what I can do and will not go where I cannot assume follow up..

Please bear with me on this, I will do my best to follow each and every one I cross paths with but I may or often will lag in my response time and be late in my follow up.. so please accept my sincere regrets :-(

I will only put in the time I can no more.. Love you all you have been outstanding from day 1.. :-)

Elie-Philippe

I had the great privilege to become acquainted with Richard via this fantastic medium we collectively call Flickr and have most recently had the honor of collaborating on an exciting project with him, and his professionalism is only matched by his skill and talent with a camera. Each and every photo in his stream exudes vitality, atmosphere, and a deep appreciation for all things Asia--as he might say in his native French, every image explodes with a "joie de vivre" and a certain " je ne sais quoi" that makes the eyes pop and the heart sing. Bravo, Richard--my chapeau is off to you!!!

Maxsimus has got one of the most awesome HDR shots I have seen. His creativity can turn any photographic shot into a marvelous painting. A number of his simple shots can evoke varied emotions as well. I am always thrilled!

Ok, I take the blame, I'm the one responsible for introducing Richard onto this whole Flickr world! And I'm pleased with myself, 'cos I'm now seeing a much wider picture of my friend (known as "Maxsie") and his really great photographic stream, which I wouldn't have otherwise. Richard has always been interested in photography, and often shared with me his P&S pics from our family gatherings, but it was clear his creative bent was striving to burst forth, so I signed him up for a free Flickr account (he's since become a Pro' and changed his moniker, btw), and I was in great part instrumental in his going ahead with his purchase of the D40. He's putting this great little cam to fantastic use, and not many people will realise that with the lenses he has, Richard in most cases has to manually focus. Considering his photography includes a lot of vibrancy and movement in his colourful captures of the people around him, these images are stunning. And he's another of those loyal fellows you can count on to visit and comment, praising often, and critiquing quietly, in private, when needed. I find his stream magical, and I can never guestimate what he's likely to post next, even when we've been out shooting together, but I know it'll be a good'un. And I keep coming back. I hope you do too.

Richard has a very interesting collection of people shots, which shows that he's observing people very well, and knows when to press the shutter at the right time. I also love the intermix of local culture, architecture and its citizens in the images presented here. Beautiful work.
