Binaural/Nodar is a cultural NGO founded in 2004 in the Portuguese region of Dão-Lafões (Municipality of São Pedro do Sul), acting in the fields of sound art and multimedia creation, heritage audiovisual documentation, sound education (especially in the area of soundscapes), sound creation for radio and publications (books, online, CD, DVD). Binaural/Nodar positions itself as an intermediary between rural communities and artists, social sciences researchers, curators, press, etc.., seeking to build strong relationships with international entities and persons related to these complementary activities: for example, more than 130 international artists and researchers were hosted through its residency program in sound art and media arts, and it has developed over the years partnerships with more than 20 organizations from countries like Spain, France, Italy, Germany, UK, Estonia, USA and Brazil.
