Enjoy both winter and summer snowshoeing/hiking. If I can walk there I'm happy. I will work hard going up hills and am not afraid of a hard long climb, but I am not a real climber/scrambler.
To date have only done day hikes anywhere from zero to 15 miles in a day. Have never attempted overnight in the wilderness and don't have any gear/real desire for that currently.
I usually hike solo just because that's the way it seems to work out. Probably another reason I'm not much of a risk taker. When in doubt or things just don't seem quite right I turn around especially if in an isloated area where I haven't seen people much if at all.
Always carry map/GPS/cell phone (which of course doesn't always work).
In the mid 90's I was a road bike fanatic one year logging close to 10,000 miles on the road. In the last couple of years have since hiked more/biked a lot less. This is my first season doing any snowshoeing/hiking on snow and I love it!!
