Yes, I am losing my eyesight... the true curse of any visual expressionist. I haven't lost my ability to appreciate the good work of others and I have taken to regularly add them to my favorites. If you are one of the many, I hope you accept the random favorite from a stranger in the spirit intended. Thank you for sharing your work on flickr, and I hope you will feel free to add me as a contact. My interest in flickr has brought me to you - and my interest in your good work has made me want to be a better photographer... so thank you.

I have taken to consider not just the image, but the titles as well. The unscrambling of non-linear, nine-image, running commentary that arrives with each hit of the reload button. Consider it a literary bonus that comes with clicking on each image of the favorites- instead of simply looking at the square crop. I would like to think I am incapable of offering a star to crap... consider this my take on interestingness. The flickr folks would probably prefer I utilize the new fancy gallery collection function to add cohesiveness to the random photo edit... but this creative exercise isn't about them now is it? (;-D)

To the FCC:

The internet has offered creative artists around the world a platform to share new work and ideas with other like-minded individuals. To generalize, artists are typically loners with few opportunities of creative social connection or community. The internet has changed that for me and many other multimedia artists. The internet offers community, collaboration and education for people who may not feel comfortable in a classroom or group setting. I have learned and shared a lot of good work with my flickr friends, this would not have happened if the internet was limited to large corporations serving their own agenda.

I have been blessed to show my work in places that may not have found small-town me if not for a free and open internet. Here's the giant beach... I'm the grain of sand they found. I have found many gifted visuals from around the world with a laptop and a connection.

This gave a shy artist from a small town - Community... an infinitely growing number unable to contain the masses of creatives who populate my favorite works. To say the internet has changed my life as a creative would be an understatement.

I support as it Net Neutrality celebrates the creative potential of the independent individual... in my opinion, there's nothing more American than that.

3/20/09 My stepmother died today of liver failure... please consider organ donation to remember her and others who need your gift of life. And thank you so very much to those flickr artists who chose to recognize this in their own personal artistic expression- this is why I favorited your photo today.
