Photography has been a hobby of mine ever since I was a little kid. From the day my dad bought me my first canon film camera when I was around 8 years old. I spent a couple years in Quebec, Canada and my interest in photography grew again. There were so many beautiful things to photograph that I really started to appreciate more of my surroundings.
My first digital camera was about 10+ years ago when I lived in California and it was less than VGA quality! But it was still so amazing to see the shots. Although digital was available I reverted back to film during a year of photography in middle school. It wasn't until 2003 that I was shooting with a 5 megapixel Sony CyberShot during those two years in Canada. It was a great camera and I learned a lot from shooting w/ it albeit extremely simple.
Since then I've owned a Rebel XT and am currently shooting with the Rebel XTi. I hope soon that someone will decide they do not want their Canon 5D anymore and that they will just give it to me as a gift! Unlikely, but I can dream can't I?
I have an addictive personality. Once something really sparks my interest I spend the next hours, days, months constantly obsessing about it until I can do it well. This can range anywhere from skating when I was a kid to computer games (Dang Counter-Strike...) to a Rubik's cube, etc. The list goes on. It is just my nature to be an extremely curious person and I seek answers to all my questions almost immediately.
I hope that photography will lead me to something bigger and greater than just a hobby. But in the mean time while I go to school full time and work towards a degree and hopefully Law School eventually- it will just have to remain a hobby. If a great financial opportunity regarding photography presented itself I would have to evaluate my current situation and probably debate for a long time. More people are shooting than ever in history. There is a lot of competition out there.
I have so much to learn about photography I hope that many of my friends and contacts can help me become the photographer I hope I am. Flickr is amazing because so many of my photos were inspired by someone else. I try to replicate their shots to a "T" so I can learn exactly what they did and how they did it. I hope to inspire others as photography has so much to offer those who come in contact with it.

I have only recently started viewing brentjholmes' photostream, but found myself fav'ing almost every one of his shots, so i figured I should write a testimonial - fantastic work - his stream will most definitely become a standard place to visit on my flickr adventures.
Just the first looks at Brents' photos made me add him as a contact. I think all of us here at Flickr can expect more great photos from him. Clear, concise, and inspiring images are signs of true talent, and Brents photos have them all.

Brent is an amazing photographer and artist. He has a gift for learning and he does it fast. If there is something he doesnt know today, he will seek out and know by tomorrow. That little gift will help Brent become exactly whoever he wants to be. His shots are always exposed perfectly, he is always looking for a better angle or view, and he will never give up! I feel priviledged to not only know B as an incredible photographer, but as a great friend.
