I've been taking photos since childhood, starting with a Box Brownie and till recently with a Nikon D80. I have just upgraded to a Nikon Z6II and enjoying the challenge of learning to use it. I am largely self-taught though I learned a lot from others as a member of several camera clubs in the Dallas, TX area during my linguistics study program in the late 1970's and later as a wedding photographer in Sydney, Australia in the early 1980's.

Now that I have retired from my role as a linguist and teacher, I have the time to focus on the creative artistry enabled by today's cameras and software. I mainly work with digital. However, I do not find digital pictures come close to the beauty of what can be produced in the darkroom. My digital work is created from photos I've taken using a variety of software which includes Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, Corel's Printshop Pro, Dynamic Auto Painter, Topaz Labs Filters, ON1, Fotosketcher, Luminar AI, Luminr Neo, Aurora HDR, etc.
