continuously discovering, learning, evaluating
I sit hours behind the screen and work with flickr. How unnatural, uncomfortable, and kind of technical. I long to go back to find a cozy place where I can write with my hand and with ink.
There's a lot to discover on the flickr platform. I am getting more and more fascinated. The tagging system is so speedy -- once you have all your personal fav tags in mind. You jump from one page to another, add here something and there. Like a monkey jumps from one branch to another.
I am still experimenting with flickr. And I am not sure whether it can give me what I really need online. But at least we can work on it freely. Nobody blocks the account. Sometimes it seems as if the interface is too noisy. But then I discover another feature that encourages to communicate with a visitor. And everything is "linkable". These are all great advantages.
I love pictures either as paintings or as photographs that reflect times, manners, thinking and feeling of people. I am especially interested in pictures that are not easily publicly available because they are very old or because the books are not available anymore. I usually would make reproductions with my small smartphone. I use these repros on m.flickr.com as material in the open educational process (I am a teacher) and/or to my own pleasure. If you are sure that I get into conflict with actual copyright law, please let me know asap. I will delete the related picture immediately.
Pondering and meditating on historical photographs or paintings can give you deeper insights into human relations, historical situations, and life in general. After some time of intensive analyzing of a picture you will have specific questions. Their answer lets you much better understand character and circumstances of the historical moment that you have in front of you. The decisive moment reveals key information about the entire time and context.

Example: Chekhov and Tolstoj in Yalta -- here
