I grew up before digital but my parents were into leica cameras (as much as could be afforded on a school teacher salary) They ran the school newspaper, put out the year book and were published in a lot of newspapers in their area. I learned from the ground up. We had a black and white darkroom in our wash room and I started my first art techniques there. Later in time the digital camera came out and I bought a small Nikon that became like an appendage. First discovered graphic programs like Corel, then moved to Photoshop which was a completely different set of rules. I have since had the thrill of seeing some of my work published, Magazine, book covers etc. What a beautiful gift my parents passed on and how grateful I am to have lived and experienced the transition to digital. There seem to be no limits from here and everyone has become better photographers. Even better; we are our own processors now and personality comes across with that.
One thing remains the same; my dad always said use the best glass you can. I went with Canon and each lens I invested in gave me a new camera and a new way of seeing the world. This is my joy and my play.

I am at a loss for words. :D Okay, for real: I've known Barb for a few years now and every once in a while, out of the blue, realize how glad and lucky I am to have her as a friend. Not only does she shoot the most amazing pix, but the way she sees the world comes through in her work and even if you don't know her well, you can clearly see the sort of person she is just by looking through her shots, and you see that she's the sort of person you want more of in your life. She's also funny as hell and has had me in stitches many times, especially on the late nights we've shared a glass of red on IM. I don't get to hang out with her enough any more, it's been too long, but she's one of those people who once you've got to know her will never really leave your heart. Barb, I want you to know how much I love you because I just typed this whole thing on the laptop, and it's readable! Now that is twoo wuv. :D Kate

Barb is someone I would really love to meet in person one day. I feel she is a very spontaneous, warm person with a lot of wisdom inside of her. I mailed Barb when I saw one of the most touching kitty pictures I had ever seen, this one: www.flickr.com/ph.... As the sentimental sucker that I am, I told her that it had almost brought me to tears. In her pictures, Barb shows us the world can be a wonderful place. I love her for it. Barb is special. I know.
