CLAY IS MY PASSION…

My ongoing exploration into engobes & terra sigillatas has helped me discover new ways to generate colorful patterns, textures and finishes on all sorts of clay bodies. Whether shaping simple clay beads or fine tuning a transfer-to-clay process, I enthusiastically explore ALL the options, asking myself ‘what if’ every time I’m confronted with clay and its possibilities.

First I want to build with clay, eat off its river rock surface or drink from the empty spaces it defines. Next I want to caress the finished clay form as if it were my personal talisman; then hear the sound of clay as it rattles in its own body or emulates the call of the wild…so I make rattles, shakers & whistles. But now I want to wear clay; feel the power of each single bead against my skin and fondle them like worry beads which adorn my aura and announce to the world, “I am an artist to be reckoned with”.
