I believe a good photographer can take a good photo using any camera. So one does not need to buy expensive gear. You can get a great photo from a 35 mm disposable film camera, the kind that is just left on the table at weddings for the guests to use. What I'd like to get out of photography is to really master whatever camera it is I have on hand. So, I guess that is why I am hesitant to spend money on a new camera. The other reason is that it is becoming a hassle to carry things around. A phone is enough. Hell, I don't know how many times I've lost a phone or something potentially more important. "Cellphone, wallet, keys," is now my mantra when I am leaving a place.

Speaking of forgetting and remembering....memories can be altered or even forgotten. My photographs serve as mementos of my life. Looking back on some of my earlier photos (from only a few years ago), I forgot what wonderful, spontaneous, and magical times I've had! And with people who are especially dear to me. Those moments are the best. If not for memories, what good is life?

I've put some more mundane shots on here too so you can see what I've been up to.

Color and contrast are my favorite features. I often go for repetitive elements and/or perhaps something that stands out and makes me want to remember it. My latest challenge is getting the photos in focus, but usually it's a matter of having the camera out at the right time. Lately I've been using the iphone, which is more difficult for me to hold steady than my (image stabilized) point-and-shoot camera.

Most of my pictures are more interesting when you look at the original size, or at least a larger size. So, click away!

Oh, I have a recently begun dabbling in a love-hate thing with HDR. Sometimes it's great but if it's highly noticeable, it just weirds me out intensely. And ultimately, I won't like it.

Update: so my go-to point and shoot camera no longer has a functioning LCD screen. My current weapon of choice is the iphone 4. In any case, please enjoy!

Here's to creating more memories!
