We are Carolyn Self and Alda Escareño also known as Beside Herself. We are drawn together by a common compulsion to create hand printed multiples. Our work ranges from traditional printed editions to interactive art objects and wearable pieces. Calling upon both printing and crafting traditions, we challenge the handmade form to mimic mass production. In our work, conceptual themes of multiplicity and repetition, inherent in printmaking, interweave themselves with seductive colours, textures, humour and dreamlike imagery.
