Strictly speaking, my main preference is photographing the ever-changing railway scene in the United Kingdom, however I do occasionally dip into other forms of photography such as landscape.

I'm somewhat of a traditionalist, in the sense that I always try to photograph the train with the sun at a 3/4 angle to the train. This, I feel, produces the most desirable image. As of April 2015, I use a Canon EOS 6D DSLR with a 50mm F1.4 Canon prime lens. Prior to this, I used a Nikon D700 DSLR and 50mm F1.8 Nikon prime lens. NONE of my pictures have been digitally altered in any shape or form, most are exactly as they appear on the back of my camera with the very odd exception such as applying a small degree of cropping if needed. For this reason, I do my utmost best to ensure that I take the image correctly first time, this includes timing, composition and exposure.
