While living in China in 2000, I bought a compact Samsung camera, which I used for pretty much all of my photos from then until the end of 2005. It served me very well, that camera.
In 2004, while everyone else was starting to buy digital cameras, I went the other way and bought a Pentax K1000. It's a lot of fun and the shutter makes a very satisfying sound, but I'm not confident enough to rely on it when travelling. In any case, using film is expensive and my wife complains about the time it takes me to set the shutter/aperture.
When I moved to Singapore, I bought my first and current digital camera - a Canon Powershot A700, which I love. It's small enough to carry everywhere and has a lot of flexibility. I'm just concerned that I take too many photos with it.
